Looking back into the past shows the degree of Touax development potential

The SOCIETE GENERALE DE TOUAGE ET DE REMORQUAGE DE L'OISE, which is at the origin of the TOUAX Group, was created in 1853 by an imperial decree, and listed on the Paris stock exchange in 1903. It possessed a fleet of boats known as 'TOUEURS' ("to tow") which towed barges on the inland waterways , advancing by traction on a chain resting on a channel bed and wound on the winch carried by the 'Toueur'. Since its origin, the company has developed first through grouping other companies in the inland marine sector then by diversifying into other types of transport equipment such as:
- the leasing of barges and pushboats (inland waterways transport),
- the leasing of mobile constructions (construction site bungalows and modular buildings).
- the leasing of shipping containers (for maritime transport),
- the leasing of railcars (for rail transport).

Over the last 10 years, from 1988 to 1999, the Group carried out several acquisitions which significantly contributed to its strong international growth.
