Barges
Major events over the last 12 years :
1988
:
Three companies SOCMA, NOGEMAT and ROBAT contribute a fleet of small
barges assigned to the transport of building materials on the Seine,
in addition to TOUAX' existing fleet of large capacity barges. TOUAX
progressively becomes the leading inland waterway transporter of building
materials and heavy packages in France.
1989
:
In the U.S., the Group developed the TOUAX-KRS partnership to finance
a fleet of barges operated on the Mississippi by an outside pool.
In 1998, with the modifications to the Jones act TOUAX created its
direct subsidiary TOUAX LEASING CORP. and launched major investments
in new barges, mainly for the transport of cereals.
In
Europe, the Group acquired a 64% stake in EUROBULK BV (today 100%),
leader in Netherlands for the operation of barges for storage and
transport activities in the Rhine The delta. TOUAX consolidated its
position through the acquisition of INTERFEEDER BV in 1996 followed
by DUCOTRA in 1997 and became one of the leading inland waterway transport
companies for containers between Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and
on the Rhine.
1991
:
The Group put in place a fleet financed by its subsidiasy TOUAX CORP.
and operated by the entity IOV on the Paraguay and Parana rivers (between
Asuncion and Buenos Aires). In 1993, the Group set up the company
TOUAX-LPG in partnership with a private local company.
Finally,
in 1998 TOUAX established operations on the Danube with the creation
of TOUAX ROM at Galatz (Romania).
